Holistic Therapy for High-Achieving Healers
I Help Young Healers Let Go of Perfectionism and High-Achieving Tendencies
As an early career therapist, medical professional, or healer you might be asking yourself these questions;
“Can I help people?”
“I want to work on myself so I can help others.”
“I feel like I can’t take steps forward.”
Feeling as if you have to achieve impossibly high standards can be debilitating. You may carry high levels of anxiety and the constant question of “Can I really do this?”
You have a passion to help others emotionally, spiritually, and physically, yet you question if you actually can. The imposter syndrome thoughts can cause you to feel like you aren’t capable of taking the next steps.
Pursuing a helping profession career can feel very difficult. The expectations and responsibilities of helping someone else’s journey can feel heavy and scary.
Being in a position to help others creates a space that encourages turning inward and looking closer at ourselves.
This might bring out the critical part of yourself, causing you to second guess your qualifications and passion. It can feel like a roller coaster to move through these symptoms and I am here to help you jump off of that ride.
Moving Past Imposter Syndrome
Feeling critical of yourself and second-guessing your passion can create feelings of hopelessness. It’s possible to stop these thought cycles and ruminating thoughts.
In therapy, I guide you through dropping into these feelings and thoughts, so that you can
understand their creation, and reprocess their effects on our body and mind.
We can lessen the anxiety and imposter syndrome by creating a stronger connection to self, unburdening the parts associated with these symptoms; while at the same time constructing new thought processes.
Becoming Your True Self
The wellness and healing professions can put a lot of pressure on those pursuing them. There is a lot of self-doubt and second-guessing when it comes to helping others with their wellness needs.
It is common to experience anxiety that can permeate all parts of our body as we do this work.
In therapy, we will explore your mindset and definitions of the roles you take as you serve the people you work with. With curiosity you’ll experiment with different practices that can help alleviate the anxiety you are experiencing.
This might also include further education in your profession, guided practices for anxious thoughts, and soothing bodily sensations that come up when you are feeling anxious.
Using Internal Family Systems (IFS), we can begin to understand the part or parts of us that arise when we are feeling dysregulated by the triggering incidents that happen in our job. We can use EMDR techniques to help reprocess the belief systems of imposter syndrome.
Therapist For High-Achieving Healers
As a high-achieving healer myself, I understand the pressures we can carry while not only pursuing your degree but also doing the work itself. I also have the experience of teaching at a higher level in a graduate counseling program and stay up to date on requirements for the wellness profession.
I can support you through your time in school, while pursuing hours and certifications, and in the transitional time of moving into your first position.
